In India fruit is a luxuary item not everybody can afford. Most people are leaving in joint family system, with means a kilo or two would be necessary. And it's about the price of 3 to ten kilos of rice… In daily life, fruits are bought in small quantity for offering to the gods, than everyvody would get a slice of it, as sanctified food or prashad. It is appreciated as an utmost delicacy, a gift from the gods.
